About

What is Agora Review?

Agora Review is a student academic journal dedicated to showcasing exceptional writing across disciplines, including the social sciences, humanities, and STEM. Our goal is to provide a platform where strong student work is treated with the seriousness and respect it deserves, and where thoughtful ideas are shared beyond the classroom. As such, we welcome work that demonstrates clear critical thinking, rigorous analysis, and meaningful engagement with important questions about the world in which we live.

Why “Agora”

The name “Agora” is inspired by the ancient Greek agora, the central public space where citizens gathered to exchange ideas, debate, and participate in civic life. This concept reflects our vision for the journal as a modern intellectual agora—a space where student voices contribute to ongoing discussions about society, science, politics, ethics, and more. We see writing not only as an academic exercise, but as a form of participation in public discourse.

Our Founding

Agora Review was founded in 2025 by high school teachers from Incheon, South Korea and Santa Cruz, California. We noticed that some of our students were producing remarkable research and analysis, yet had few avenues to share their work beyond the classroom. Motivated by this gap, we created Agora Review to amplify student voices, celebrate scholarly achievement, and provide a meaningful platform for publication. The journal was built on the belief that strong student work deserves to be seen, read, and engaged with by a wider audience.

Our Vision

At Agora Review, each published piece represents more than an assignment. It reflects curiosity, effort, and the development of emerging thinkers who are learning to shape and communicate ideas with clarity and purpose. We hope the journal serves not only as a publication, but as a space that encourages students to take their ideas seriously and to see themselves as contributors to ongoing intellectual conversations.
